Despite the disappointing outcome last night, I am very proud of the campaign my team and I ran. This journey started for me as a way to stand up for the ordinary citizens of this district, and ended as such. I met so many wonderful people over the course of the last two years, and it strengthened my resolve to make life better for West Michigan families.
I want to say a sincere thank you to the countless number of people who supported me along the way. Every person who made calls, knocked doors, hosted events, and donated money kept me going, and I felt supported at every step. We may have lost this race, but we will continue the fight for jobs, educational opportunities, affordable college, health care for everyone, and a strong middle class.
